Note: 2020: All-Time Biggest Quarter for Express Entry!

It appears that the COVID-19 pandemic could not deter the total number of invitations being allotted for candidates to apply for immigration. A total of 28,450 Express Entry candidates were issued Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in the third quarter of 2020. This is more ITAs than any previous quarter since the application management system launched in January 2015. It also brings the number of ITAs issued this year to a record high of 78,350. Even in the second quarter of 2020 during the first wave of coronavirus, Canada still issued 27,300 ITAs, which hasn’t been seen in one quarter since Q4, 2018. This has been the biggest quarter for Express entry since Express entry was rolled out.

A total of 4,500 invitations went to Express Entry candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement of 471. The CRS score requirement is the same as the previous Express Entry draw held on September 30th.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has been holding draws of 4,200 every fortnight since September 2. The immigration department has never had a draw of this size since February.

Canada express entry latest draw that took everyone by surprise was the  CEC  draw on 13 Feb 2021. The Canada immigration news platforms were only talking about the unprecedented draw that saw the CRS scores drop down to a mere 75 points.

What is the likely Canada express entry next draw prediction?

Having broken all previous statistics in terms of the number of invitations and the CRS score, the future draws are something that even the pioneers in the Canadian immigration fraternity would not base on the age-old pattern of FSW, CEC & PNP draws. The Express entry news regarding the low CRS score cut off has now given a lot of hope to CEC and FSW candidates who have always in the mindset that one needs to have a minimum of 450 and above for an Express entry ITA.

Will similar scores be considered for the PNP candidates?

Though we saw multiple PNP draws in the first quarter, we cannot ascertain what the immigration department will roll out considering the fact that they are not able to give out ITA’s to FSW aspirants due to the ongoing pandemic conditions. As per most of the Canada news forums, Canada will only consider resuming draws for FSW provided the covid cases come down and the vaccination drive has efficiently been carried out. Provincial nominee programs are giving out invitations for aspirants who are already inside Canada and are falling under any of the eligible categories that most of the provinces have in place.
